Trophy Walleye fishing
at Canada North Lodge.
Walleyes like this flourish and are
plentiful on our lake system and portage lakes. We practice a strict
conservation policy when it comes to BIG FISH. No walleye's over 18" are
harvested . . all big walleyes are live released. Our portage lakes are
"catch & release" for all fish. This policy has been in effect since 1985
and have produced amazing results . . "dynamite fishing". |

John & Roy pause to admire a big walleye
before releasing it back to the lake. John and Roy have been guests at
Canada North Lodge for over 10 years and have enjoyed the superb fishing
that the Woman River Chain of lakes provide each year. |

Jimmy Houston Outdoors
Jimmy has produced many TV fishing shows at Canada
North Lodge since we met in 1980. Jimmy & Chris and family are good friends
of ours and we appreciate all their help in promoting Canada North Lodge and
the good fishing our lakes provide.
Jimmy takes a minute to get a photo of a stringer
of walleye that he and his group is about to filet for another of those
delicious shore lunches which is the highlight of every Canada fishing trip.

Moss - What a Trophy!!!
Over 10 years ago Moss was a guide at CNL for several
years while in college. He is shown here as a returning guest years later
and has landed quite a prize. He remarked and complimented us on how good
the fishing is and attributes the excellent fishing as a result of our
Conservation Fishing Policies. |

A Happy Couple Enjoy a
Day of Fishing.
Jean smiles while posing for this photo & reveals
her secret bait for the day. Lead head jigs such as this one are very
popular baits for walleye fishing. Tip them with a minnow and watch out. The
walleye cannot resist them. These jigs come in a variety of colors and
shapes and are generally dressed with rubber flip tails, or maribou
feathers. A very inexpensive but effective lure. |

Walleye Fishing Kid's
Enjoy A couple of very happy children
enjoying a day of walleye fishing and fun. Here they are posing with a kid
size walleye right before they landed what they called a monster walleye.
Naturally they got a picture of their monster walleye too.
Our family plan promotes a fun vacation for
children of high school age or younger. The kid's enjoy it and Mom and
Dad save a few bucks allowing them to bring the children with them. Check it
out!!! Yes, the kids catch plenty of walleye
too and do not get bored. Hard to get most of them out of the boat once they
get exposed to the action packed fishing. |

Walleye Fishing on
Portage Lakes This beauty
was caught on one of our many portage lakes. A normal day the fishing on
these lakes are unbelievable not only in quality but in quantity too. Heck a
bad day is a good day when you can land fish like this.
Our portage lakes are right off the
lake system and a hike of less than 1/4 mile. The boats and motors are there
waiting your arrival. A handful of jigs, your rod and reel and you are ready
for a day of action packed fishing. |

Wally Twigg checks out our
Walleye Fishing Wally Twigg - a past
owner of Canada North Lodge - displays a nice stringer of shore lunch size
fish. He obviously has not forgot where the walleye fishing is . . he guided
himself on a day of fishing while visiting to proof he could still do it . .
and that he did.
Congratulations Wally . . come and see us again. |

A Nice Bad Weather
Walleye
Walleye fishing is at it's best on
those cloudy windy, rainy days. Bring good rain gear and get ready for the
best in walleye fishing on these days. Walleye's love the dark water and go
on a feeding frenzy during these periods.
Those picture pretty, bright, calm,
sunny days may look nice but often do not provide for the best of fishing
conditions. These days are generally better for taking pictures then they
are for fishing. So, take advantage of those bad weather days when you can.

Jim & Joey - A father
son team!!! Jim is one happy
fisherman . . holding one of many beautiful walleye's that he and his son
Joey catch while fishing at CNL. They get away from the busy life in Atlanta
once a year to enjoy the peace and quiet and excellent walleye fishing in
the Canadian wilderness. Last
year Joey won our Tagged Walleye Fishing Contest and also caught a
monster Trophy Lake Trout. It was definitely a successful trip for both of
them.
The two-some try about everything each
year. . They fish on our lake system, take portage trips and occasionally
take a daily fly-in fishing trip to a fly-in lake. You can experience
it all in one trip at CNL. |
| Doug and Jim display
one of the many nice walleye they caught on one of their trips. They come up
with one or two groups each year to enjoy the superb walleye and northern
pike fishing that we have to offer.
Trophy Fish and Mounting
Policy
We are frequently asked about the
mounting of their Trophy Walleye should they catch one. How can I get one
mounted if I am required to live release them?
We have several taxidermists that
specialize in Replica Mounts. These replica's look like the real thing and
will last forever. The price is the same as mounting a real fish. Very
simply all you need is the length measurement and let them do the work.

Fishing Tackle for
walleye fishing
Rob - one of our guiding staff -
showing off with another trophy walleye.
Our suggested equipment is as
follow:
-
Light to medium action spinning or
casting rods are the most popular, spin cast is popular for kids.
-
A reel with a good drag system is a
must and if properly set will handle the largest of fish.
-
6 to 8 pound line is advised.
-
Lead head jigs is the most popular
walleye lure.
-
Certain crank baits produce good
results too.
-
Good rain gear - pants and coat.
