Ontario Canada Hunting Regulations

Specific Bear & Moose Hunting Regulations

Hunter Orange

Fall bear hunters are not required to wear hunter orange while in a tree stand, but must wear hunter orange when traveling to and from their tree stand.

Moose hunters are required to wear hunter orange during the moose hunting season.

We encourage use of hunter orange whenever hunting. Hunter Orange must cover a minimum of 400 square inches above the waist and be visible from all sides. A hunting coat or vest generally meets this requirement. Hunter Orange head cover is also required. Camouflage or open mesh Hunter Orange does not satisfy the requirements.

Proof of Hunting Experience Required

Licenses for bear and moose are available at the lodge. Mandatory proof of hunting experience is needed for the issuance of an Ontario license. The actual regulations states: A hunting license issued to you by a competent authority in any jurisdiction as a resident of that jurisdiction after January 1, 1968, or a certificate issued to you after January 1, 1968 by a competent authority in any jurisdiction giving you permission to purchase a residents' hunt license in that jurisdiction is required.

A hunter safety certification is otherwise required.
